Are Transformers immortal?

Keeping in mind if a Transformer is not killed in battle can they live forever?
If not what is a typical life span for a Transformer?
So it's treason then!

Starscream's Spark was considered a mutant Spark due to its inability to expire, so I assume that being immortal is not a normal condition for TF Sparks.

They can also die if their bodies degrade enough and their Sparks aren't relocated to a functional one in time, but what counts as fatal really varies between the different continuities. In some stories, Sparks can even survive on their own, outside of a body. Some writers even disagree on whether a Spark "joining the Allspark" counts as death or not, because technically they still continue to exist as part of the Allspark (or Matrix, or whatever you want to call it). Case in point: when Rhinox died in Beast Machines, his Spark crossed over into another plain of existence, but was still alive. Then in a side-story, Megatron's Spark killed him again, this time by destroying Rhinox's Spark for good.

Also in some other fiction, like in TF: Animated, extinguished Sparks can be resurrected by placing their Spark containers into a protoform body immediately upon "death" -- technically, this body-swapping I think could guarantee immortality, even if this procedure is seen as reprehensible act in the story.

Further complicating the matter is that Sparks were absent from early TF story material. In the Marvel comics, it was their "brain" that housed the TF's "life".

Eh, it's all messed up.

Well there is proof that Transformers do age, for example Alpha Trion, Kup and Ironhide. It's unknown if Transformers do die of old age, the only reference I have to that is one of the overlords of Cybertron in the UK Marvel comics, http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Overlord_(rank). I'm sure the time it takes for Transformers to age is eons, however there life expectancy is unknown since they are still Sentient Mechanical beings. One saying I got from Transformers Wiki is that they're "Practically Immortal" but not the same as being "Actually Immortal". http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Life_cycle

Living several million years is a pretty good shake of the stick but as we see them age/die the answer would be no they are not immortal.
