Did Alpha Trion ever transform?
Don't think he ever did in the cartoon, but what about the comics, either old or recent?
shareAs far as I know never in the cartoon.In the old marvel G1 comics he didn't exist but another character based on him called Emirate Xeaon who was basicaly Alpha Trion with a differant name.He never transformed but it said in his profile that his alternate mode was a cybertronian tank.
shareNo, he never transformed in the series and he didn't transformer in his appearence in dreamwaves ongoing G1 series either. It is highly possible that he was a pre transformer. Which means that he was from the time prior to cybertronians being able to transform. Acording to the episode "Five Faces Of Darkness" The Transformers did not start out as Transforming robots. Rather, over a long period of time they learned how to transform. Therefore, Alpha Trion (being one of the oldest living bots) was probably a pre Transformer.

TF Wiki has an unused hovercraft mode for him, yet since it was unused it's likely he's a pre Transformer. True it was stated in the cartoon that Cybertronians didn't start out as transformers.
shareThere was a botcon or fan convention toy I think of Alpha Trion which transformed. If you think about it the first transformers were all pre transformers as they were the ones who learned how to do it so just becuase Alpha Trion was built prior to the learning of transformation doesn't mean he never figured it out.
shareIt is possible that he eventually learned how to Transform, but due to the fact that he hasn't in hundreds or perhaps even thousans of years it is possible that if he were to Transform now that the shock would have killed him (prios to him joining Vector Sigma/ The Matrix...?!...!?!) There was a similar character in the comics named Emirate Xaaron who also didn't transform.

Is the toy you're talking about the Vector Prime repaint with a new Alpha head? I assume if Alpha transforms he would look like that, since they share a similar design.
