Who was Cyclonus before being reformated by Unicron?

To me it's between Skywarp or Bombshell.Personly I think theres a good chance that it's Skywarp because we know that Scourge was Thundercracker and it would make sense considering they were both seekers.Does anyone know for sure who Cyclonus was?

So it's treason then!

It isn't clear which one became Cyclonus. Cyclonus was supposed to have his own armada of duplicates, similar to how Scourge had his Sweeps, but the Cyclonus duplicate wasn't seen again after the reformatting scene. I think it would be more fitting if Cyclonus was Skywarp and the duplicate was Bombshell as Scourge was Thundercracker and the Sweeps were Kickback and Shrapnel. The Insecticons could create clones of themselves, which could explain how Kickback and Shrapnel could become more than two Sweeps. Likewise, Bombshell could have become Cyclonus' armada.

I agree.

It really does fit as Cyclonus was fanatically loyal to Megatron. What was the first thing Skywarp did after being dead for 4 million years.... fix Megatron. It was the Alternity or Binaltech line that explained Skywarp's supposed stupidity was the processing power needed to teleport, take that away and he would be quite smart. Cyclonus cannot teleport so he is no longer slow. They were both tactically clever but with no drive or ambition to assume leadership.

Whilst Bombshell is super smart his only loyalty was to himself and the other insecticons. So by becoming Cyclonus his personality would be warped and his intelligence downgraded and he gained disdain for his offsiders as he put himself above Scourge and the sweeps. Doesn't really fit for me.

That's what I believe...

Skywarp = Cyclonus
Thundercracker = Scourge
Insecticons = Sweeps

I have one theory that the Coneheaded Seekers were also reformatted into the first wave of arial Decepticon Targemasters.

Dirge = Triggerhappy
Ramjet = Slugslinger
Thrust = Misfire

Skywarp = Cyclonus
Thundercraker = Scourge
Insecticons = Sweeps

That list sound good, but Scourge could have been Bombshell. I know Bombshell was out for himself, but there were quiet a few episode where Scourge was completely out for himself. Hell, he took the matrix and used it to best Galvatron and Cyclonus so he could take over the Decepticons.

This has got to be the first time this topic has been discussed without someone ranting that it has to be Bombshell just cause!

Thundercracker's level of treason basically consisted of calling Megatron geeky, hard to say what his real motivations where as he never got an episode to himself.

reply

Actually, in his profile, Thundercracker was never enthused or entirely committed to the Decepticon cause at all. He usually keeps quite about his doubts in fear of retribution from Megatron and his Decepticon peers. I guess Galvatron going crazy could've given Scourge (who use to be Thundercracker and may have inherited those traits) to have more reason and probable cause to act for what he thinks is for the best.

But then again it's hard to tell whether the Decepticons thrown out into space with Megatron died latter on and didn't have their previous consciousness' fully intact to transfer into their new reformatted bodies like Megatron was when he became Galvatron.

If they did die, then Unicron would've forged new custom made personas/sparks to put into the new reformatted minions for Galvatron, or if they were already at the brink of death and not conscious at all, he may have taken what remained of their previous personalities and just added them as a pinch to their new alternate personalities, making them have Shell programs, like the first three Vehicon generals from Beast Machines, http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Shell_program.

reply

Personaly I think Scourge was Bombshell. There were too many instances in season three that he tried to wrestle control of the deepticons from Galvatron. He also ran to the Autobots for help when Galvatron wouldn't listen to him. He didnt do that to save the decepticons he did it cause (imo) he didn't want to be held responsible for the rebirth of Unicron.

Does anyone know what the comic origins are of Cyclonus and Scourge? Or is it like Megatron and Galvatron where they're separate characters entirely in the comic continuity?

reply

In the old US Marvel Comics, both Cyclonus & Scourge appeared as Targetmasters under the command of Scorponok.

The UK comics introduced them as Decepticons from the future, a future that resembled the 1986 movie.

Ultimately, they travelled back in time again and joined Scorponok's crew in what was essentially a continuity retcon.

I just pretend that the movie (and Season 3) never happened.

Conquer your fear, and I promise you, you will conquer death.

reply

Unicron could of mixed and matched pieces of any of them with each other, whilst altering their forms.
