Riptide is coming back in 2012!!

Apparently, the show is in the process of being revamped for a comeback sometime in 2012. Here's hoping they dont ruin it by making it too serious or too high-tech.

The perfect set up would be to stay with the original idea of two former MP's and their tech-geek buddy running a private investigation service in Cali. Instead of being Vietnam vets, they could be Iraq war vets and there is tons of things that the Boz character could accomplish with the computer technology available nowadays as opposed to 1984.

Hopefully they honor the memory of Stephen J. Cannell and stay with the original spirit of the show.

Interesting! I hadn't heard that. I agree with your comments on how they should go about it. I even would like it if they brought the original cast back and centered the show around them.

But I agree, keep it light and fun. There's already too much garbage on the tube these days. At least the old shows offer up a recipie for quality and entertaining television.

I'm not sure if it is a remake of our 'Riptide' or not; there have been many films called 'Riptide' over the years, and all I have heard so far is that some kind of production called 'Riptide' is lined up for 2012.

If they do bring it back... they'll ruin it if they make it too high-tech or 'slick'. It's one of those cases that I'd love to see it do well, but I can't wonder if they should leave well alone. ...Terrible reboot of 'Knight Rider', anyone??

As a HUGE fan of the original Riptide (I was in high school), it would be great to see what they would do with it, how they would do it....as a filmmaker today, it wasn't the story-lines as much, it was the actors and chemistry that Perry/Joe/Thom had that made the success successful.

If there is any model to use on doing a new version, I would say model it on some of the shows USA Network has put out.

I have really enjoyed "Monk," "Psych," "White Collar" and "Burn Notice."

All of those shows have been enjoyable and fun. That is what I remember most about the original "Riptide"... it was enjoyable and fun.

It doesn't have to be super-slick or ultra-high tech.

The mysteries can have a light touch (like "Monk" and "Psych"), have quirky and interesting characters and situations (like "Monk," "Psych" and "White Collar") and still have a few explosions and action (like "Burn Notice).

I am curious to see what they do with it.

There are any new info about the possible new version of Riptide? Thanks in advance!
