DVD aspect ratio question

I just watched the talent show episode with Andy Gibb. The DVD is a 10-ep collection from NBC-U and Shout.

I play full screen DVDs in my Blu-ray player and have it set up to pillarbox 4:3 content. However, Punky plays as if it is 16:9. I'm confused.

Afterward, I put on the "Tool or Die" episode of Pete & Pete from the first season DVD, and it pillarboxed just fine.

I am unaware of the collection you speak of, seems some sort of mixed bag? The complete sets I have do not have anything like that, I am quite certain. Shout Factory has a good website, responsive customer reps and people on their own board that have worked on these collections. Perhaps you should take your question there as they might be better able to explain the situation at shoutfactory.com Join their forums and ask.
