Season 4, Episode 20: The Dilemma

Punky tries to juggle two dates at the same time.

The episode where Punky and her classmate Spuds get trapped on the ledge of the apartment building 5 stories up. Spuds is upset that Punky will not go to a school dance with him, and to make Punky go with him, he crawls out the window above the street. Punky tries to get him to come back in crawls out to pull him back, and ends up trapped with him. Sounds depressing, but the whole episode was played off in a very funny manner. One of the funniest 80's sitcom episode I've ever seen of any show. The back and fourth dialogue between the two young teens is a riot...as well as the running gag of Cherry's bike getting slowly destroyed through the whole episode in various ways just adds to it all. The scene with the two stuck on the ledge is one of the few times in TV history where the actors are visibly trying NOT to crack up laughing. It is very evident and that just made the whole thing that much funnier. Punky ends up going to the dance with Spuds, but not before her horror of having to wear a downright godawful dress and her date showing up in an equally horrendous tuxedo!
