Thought it was really stupid what they did with Branden the dog

For the most part I love this show, but I thought it really, REALLY dumb the way they turned Branden into a human in a dog costume, minus the ability to speak, in later seasons. I remember episodes like where he's actually playing cards with Henry and Punky...and WINNING! I couldn't believe they were expecting us to swollow that. I'm sorry, no dog in real life is that smart.

I much prefer the way he was in earlier episodes. I especially liked this one episode where Punky enters a little girl talent competition and brings Branden, and she can't get him to do anything like jump through a hoop or play dead. That made me laugh, because it's just the sort of thing that an actual (not well-trained enough) dog would act. But the way they turned him into a four-legged person with fur and a tail later in the series, I felt like my intelligence was insulted.

They just did it for gags, it's not as though they thought people would actually believe it, silly-billy. :P

I *love* this show but I agree with the OP. They showed him doing things so much that it wasn't even funny after a while.

It was cute for awhile... and it WAS Brandon; they can train dogs you know. *Told this by someone who worked on set).

it's true, it gets pretty ridiculous. brandon understanding what everyone is saying and barking in response or having way more complex emotions than any dog would ever have like when he was "mad" at punky for expecting too much of him with the tv commercial but then he "forgives" her after she apologizes.

at one point they have him helping henry with his taxes!!!!!

so ridiculous. even if i'm alone i'm like oh god no, how embarrassing. they just go way too far with brandon.

he sits at the table and drinks out of straws? is that even possible?

he answers the phone...he...just does all these ridiculous things.

yeah. totally agree. dumb.

When did Brandon start dresseing as a Human and talking? I don;t remember those episodes at all?

In the episode where Punky and Brandon switch bodies with each other. "It's a Dog's Life"

Well, that's the dressing part.

The part where he started talking like a human is in the episode "Brandon the Dialogue Dog".
