Ghost flying at the screen

Am I crazy, or was there more than one instance(one of which I know involved Beaker) where one of the MBs looked into a closet or something smaller, and we saw a black screen, and a green ghost thing rush, laughing maniacally, at the camera. I know Beaker ran screaming ("MEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!"). Given how much previously existing footage they used, was this from anything in particular?

Similarly, I remember another instance where one of the Babies looked into a sleeping mask (that thing people wear over their eyes to block out light) and saw a ghostly face staring up at them and laughing from the darkness. That used to freak me out as a kid.

I always wondered what movie it was from; it looked like one of the old black and whites.
