Wasn't the show cancelled when....
I'm not sure of this but wasn't the show actually canceled after the first ep. of "Dregs"?
shareI'm not sure of this but wasn't the show actually canceled after the first ep. of "Dregs"?
shareThat's when it was just starting to get good....
shareNo, there were more episodes after part 1 of "The Dregs of Humanity". Many people never saw part 2 because it was pre-empted by one of President Regan's speeches. They never aired part 2 during prime time TV. I know in Detroit they eventually showed it on a Saturday around 5pm or something like that. I finally saw the entire part when they were rerunning the series years later on the USA Network.
shareI actually remember that too. I was so mad that I smacked out TV and broke it.
There is an abbreviated version of the dreg's ep on youtube.com
OMG ... I was just remembering that same thing. I knew I had to wait a long time to see part two but couldnt remember why it was pre-empted.
This was a great show!
I remember that as well. I had taped it and waited for the second part of Dregs and I'm still waiting. I was mad as hell about that. That was the best episode.
shareWow...did this thread bring back some memories! I was in 5th grade and obsessed with this show. I actually wrote a nasty letter to President Reagan when the show didn't air on that particular Wednesday night. I can't believe this show isn't on dvd yet.
shareI know what you mean because I loved watching this show when I was a teenager and then did not discover it again until like some where in the early to mid 90's when USA Network had a lot better programming than what it does now!
I would watch all of the great shows that I loved to watch including Double Trouble!

What I remembered was that it was airing for awhile, then suddenly(can't remember why)it was off for awhile and when it came back it wasn't as funny as the beginning of the season.
I always remember the line that Bateman's character would say "You're gonna laugh"
That is very strange because it was a very good show to watch. I liked watching it and when it was on NBC I watched it. It has been forever since I have watched this show. The last time I saw it in syndication was when USA Network use to air this and I started to watch it and the next thing I know they replaced it with something else instead to show in syndication.

The show was ahead of its time. The family values watchdogs didn't like that he was getting away with all his shenanigans, so he was grounded and had to be on his best behavior, completely changing the show. It wasn't witty or funny anymore.
shareWAS mad? Hell, I'm STILL waiting and STILL mad! I only watched two episodes because I always thought Jason Bateman's character was just too annoying, but this episode I gotten into. I never liked "to be continued" episodes when I was a kid, and cliffhanging this didn't help much
Neither did that last episode of Soap while I am at it!
This show rocked!I always wondered what happened to part 2 also. The skeletons playing instruments were hilarious!
hey ahab....can i have my doobage?
I didn't realize there was a part two. I didn't even remember that episode until reading this thread, but I now remember how funny it was watching those skeletons puppets. I always hated when shows got pre-empted for emergency messages from president. Recently, I've noticed that if the president must make an important statement (especially of Thursday nights) they push back the schedule and delay the late news.
"The end of the shoelace is called the...IT DOESN'T MATTER!"
For some reason I remember seeing the second part. Bateman's character used Norman's car to drown the skeletons to make it seem like the group was killed in a driving accident.

I never cared much for Ronald Reagan but when he ruined the "Dregs of Humanity" part 2 episode, I never forgave the old man. It was way past his bedtime and he helped in the show's demise. Thankfully we have reruns and 18 great episodes that unfortunately we never really see except some on Youtube. Let's get a DVD release soon.
