That episode where the fat chick at all those donuts
HILARIOUS!!
shareI felt so sorry for that girl. I did want to tell her not to waste time worrying about hooking up with some jock everyone respects. He at first was ungrateful to her for even trying to help him pass his failing class. I thought she was cute as she was- fat people do not bother me as long as they do not look like they will squash you.
shareLOLOL
shareI believe you mean ate not at. I am a fat man and if a particular woman doesn't like me because of my weight nor want to take the time to get to know me; there loss not mine.

... there loss not mine.
I believe you mean "their" not "there."

FAT GIRL: "I-I just wanted them to be my friends..."
JONATHAN: "Well they're NOT...and who in the <choke> hell wants friends like that?"
Its not the line, its the delivery. It wouldn't have worked for anyone else but Landon.
Classic!

You're right, his delivery of that line was terrific.
The weird thing to me about this episode is that they act like she shouldn't have friends unless she loses weight.
shareUnfortunately a lot of people think that way about overweight people. They think we are useless and do nothing but eat all day and collect welfare, which is so not true. They think we do not deserve friends or any type of love.
shareGood for you, it's the woman's loss, not yours.
shareand...we have to remember this was the 80's. Things were different then. It was "okay" to make fun of fat people. Just like the show when Mark is that actress and she is Mark. No way could Mark, or any show, get away with portraying a woman that way. At school, fat people were made fun of.. and it was "accepted." Not as tolerant as current times. I think the implication is that she was fat b/c she ate a lot. She ate junk a lot b/c she had not friends, except food. When she had girl friends, food was not her best friends any more, so she'll lose weight. It kind of reminds me of a movie called "Baby Cakes" starring Rikki Lake. Fat girl in love with hunk. He has skinny "perfect" girlfriend. He hangs with Fat Girl. Step MOm of fat girl makes fun of her too. Hunk is embarrassed to be seen with fat girl. Hunk falls in love with fat girl and leaves skinny girl for fat happy girl and they live happily ever after. She works in a morgue. Lonely. With unhappy best girl friend. After meeting hunk she changes her life for the better. .... Kind of same message here in this episode. Donuts and jock but same type of message.
