How would you reboot the G.I.Joe brand for television or videogames?
Pretty self explanatory.
If you were given the keys to develop a cartoon series or videogame series based on the franchise, how would you reboot it? Without the network constraints, or the advertising quota of Hasbro, there's alot of potential to be mined from the series, without having to degrade to the silliness that the show is known for.
If it were a series, I would want it to be serialized, similar to shows like Breaking Bad or The Wire. It would also be 5 or six seasons, with a definitive endgame to close the story off. And most of the stories would be based off of the Marvel comic series rather than the television show.
What story arcs should be mandatory? And what would be a good closeout to the series?
If it were a videogame series, what popular gaming engines would be ideal for it, and what would be your baseline roster of characters would you have in the game? -- both playable and npc's? Note: try to keep your wishlist streamlined and reasonable and not to base your picks on any superficial appeal factors alone.
What vehicles or playsets would work in a game series, and what considerations would you take in balancing the pros and cons of vehicles from the opposing side? For example, my vehicle roster would resemble the list below:
G.I.Joe:
Vamp mk. I (Humvee)
Mauler (Tank)
Skystriker (fighter jet)
Mirage (motorcycle)
Dragon Fly (attack helicopter)
Cobra:
Stinger Jeep -- refitted with artillery batteries
Hiss Tank
Rattler -- redesigned to be a Skystriker counterpart
Ferret ATV
Mamba or the fang -- redesigned to be a dragonfly counterpart.
For me, it would be cool to have a game using the Red Faction Guerilla destruction engine running it, and would have 2 campaigns from the point of view of each sides.
The Batman Arkham series and High Moon's Transformers have proven that games based on licensed ip's can work in the right hands.
