If Dad's Army has got a big new film then....

Pet should deffo have one in the next 4 to 9 years to mark the 35th or 40th anniversary in 2018 or 2023.
A big screen Auf W Pet, oh I would love it just for the nostalgia and the tribute it would be. Like Dad's Army Pet now has a long list of dearly-departed actors.
Gary Holton, Pat Roach, Caroline Hutchison, Michael Elphick, Michael Sheard, Sammy Johnston, Bryan Pringle, James Booth, Kevin Lloyd, all gone but not forgotten.

And if they do do a big-screen version please don't piss about with the story. Don't have it as 7 ethnically diverse builders working in America.
Set it in 1983, 3 geordies, a londoner, a scouser, a brummie, a bristolian in Germany. Do it exactly as it was....and as a tribute.

Andrew, yes it was me that suggested the Gary Holton BBC4 drama originally on here and me and then you and I discussed this and had some ideas on who would play who. I said it on here about two years ago or so, that I would love BBC4 to cover the making of the first series and from the point of view of Gary, like they did with Steptoe & Son starring Jason Isaacs and Phil Davies and Kenneth Williams with Michael Sheen among others.

ps; you make good points about the era and the daner of a new film sticking with the 80s but it would be nice for tribute's sake.

Getting sick of Dad's Army. Shown all the time on British TV along with Allo Allo.

Brits are stuck in WWII.
