Can anyone tell me what the conversation between helmut's grandfather and Neville translates as?

Neville is telling the father that his grandfather was sunk by the German battleship Scharnhorst in WWII. The father is simply reiterating Neville's story in German.
I can't recall, but it might be also that Helmut's father served on the Scharnhorst.
