Etes-vous being served?

I rented the first season of ALLO ALLO because I had heard good things about it.

I have to say that even after a few episodes, I'm already disappointed with how lame and unfunny it is. Croft and Lloyd are just repeating their ARE YOU BEING SERVED formula of catch phrases and repeated gags, with the thinnest of plots. Not to mention the silly conceit of having everyone talking in English, but just pretending that the French and Brits can't understand each other.

I have read lots of comments on IMDB message boards from Europeans, criticizing the taste of American audiences, but I have my doubts about the British, knowing that they supported this show for nine seasons.

(And I must confess that I am actually somewhat of an ARE YOU BEING SERVED fan.)
