Pity Gavin quit as he was great in the part. he was always jolly and was very convincing - and he is good looking.

He was great, better than his replacement. I must admit I wasn't that fussed about Bertorelli, as he couldn't fill the gap left by Hans Geering. But as the series went on, my likeness for him grew.

Yeah, I agree. Though Sam Kelly could never be replaced, Gavin grew on me.

Yeah I agree, he was great, so good at the arrogant charmer thing, & he was certainly good-looking! It wouldn't have been realistic to have him take Captain Geering's place as the Colonel's closest friend & confidante - it's so much better that Lt Gruber became more the second-in-command.
