Well, Croft and LLoyd did repeat themselves a lot, but the actors knew how to get the laugh out of it.

"Keeping up appearances" also relied heavily on running gags, but still, both shows rock.
Intelligence and purity.
Fawlty Towers is fantastic, but the reason it is fantastic is that it only lasted for twelve episodes.

Fawlty Towers, Blackadder, Yes Minister - best of the best for me and they all limited their seasons to 6 episodes each year thus allowing the writers to take a break.
However I do have fond fond memories of Allo Allo. I looked at the episode list here and season 5 has 26 episodes, in hindsight I think this might have ruined the show as I think I started to get tired of it around then. Repeating jokes work fine in small doses, not for a continuous 26 week run.
The running jokes were part of the appeal for me.
