Unrealistic Plot

A computer hacker nearly starts World War 3 when he and his girlfriend break into America's military defense system. But you have to suspend your disbelief, don't you? After all, it's a bit far-fetched, isn't it? I mean, come on - a computer hacker with a girlfriend?

a computer hacker with a girlfriend?

It's been known to happen.

Of course, she may not have been his actual girlfriend. There might be some plausible deniability here. They only seemed to get close because they thought it was the end of the world. But it wasn't meant to last. Jennifer would continue with aerobics and be a championship swimmer, while David would be recruited by the CIA to be one of their top hackers.

She wasn't his girlfriend. They just started hanging out after the science test.

It's science fiction. Since when does that have to be real?

Very clever! lol

Funny, but yeah, that's one of the jokes in his movie. He's so obsessed with computers that he's oblivious to this cute girl. There is another funny thread on this topic that suggests in reality he would have forgotten about the stupid computer.

You have to suspend some belief sure, but this much? No way. The idea was kooky enough back then, but the movie has aged pretty badly since.

A teenage computer geek and his girlfriend should be absolutely crapping themselves with the thought of being in serious trouble with the army and the FBI with acts of sabotage to their national security, not breaking out of custody and skipping away like it's one bodacious fun-filled adventure. It's not only utterly moronic, but totally irresponsible too.

Any potential remake should reflect the actual wobbly-lip reality of the terror they should be feeling, as well as giving any co-operation with deactivating the computer which he caused.

Kids these days are more fearless than in the 80's and you think there should be a modern movie with the kids scared? Not happening in this day and age.
