Questions after first viewing

I just watched this for the first time tonight and I loved it. But there were some parts of it that I didn't completely understand and I had a few questions about the movie:

1. Was Nicki, like Harlan, a part of the plot to manipulate Max's mind via 'Videodrome' ?

2. What exactly is real and what are Max's hallucinations in the scenes after Convex places the simulator helmet on Max's head? Are we to assume that the bizarre ways that Harlan and Convex die are Max's hallucinations?

3. How is Bianca able to 're-program' Max so that he kills Harlan and Convex?

4. Has Max been living in the boat he stumbles into at the end of the movie?

Sorry if these questions have been discussed before, I checked through some of the threads and they just confused me even more. I'm not sure if these things are meant to ambiguous or not. I still love this movie and I will watch it again soon.

1. No, I don't believe Nicki was part of the plot. She may have been used against him, but I don't think she was in on it. I'll have to rewatch though.

Note that Max only meets Nicki AFTER he watches Videodrome for the first time. Depending on how quickly you believe the hallucinations start to set in (and the movie never makes it clear) she might not have existed at all

1) No.

2) The movie begins with a shot of Max sleeping. So did he ever wake up?

3) Max, like all of us, is susceptible to visual propaganda especially when it is shown on TV. TV/film images are very real to the human brain. The brain can't differentiate from reality and TV. She used the same visual trick to turn Max.

4) Unknown. Maybe, maybe not.
