To each their own I suppose, but I really didnt get the hype for this. I enjoyed The Fly tremendously, and I suppose I had high expectations. The score seemed to rip off the opening song to Kubricks The Shining, the story was all over the place, the effects were good though.

The stomach vagina and penis gun was some odd imagery.

The Cancer bursting was nasty as hell.

Overall good effects, but a story that really didnt keep me engaged. A lot of people mention they like to smoke while watching this...maybe it enhances it, but I dont know how a stoner can make sence of this movie and a sober person cant.

Theres definitely a reason this movie isn't more popular because well.... its boring as hell aside from the few positives you mentioned about the effects. I think it mostly suffers from terrible actors spouting off equally terrible lines (like most of cronenbergs movies) which overshadow the fact that their is an interesting idea in there somewhere. Not spelling things out in your movie is one thing but when you watch a movie and get the idea that the only person watching with the vaguest idea of whats going on is the writer/director then thats the sign of poor movie making.
