This deserves a remake

I generally don't care about remakes. But I think remakes are justified if the overall premise of the movie is good but the realization falls flat. Strange Invaders is just that kind of a movie. The general premise is quite intriguing. There are several themes in this movie that deserve to be developed further (a small creepy town being inhabited by aliens, the government-alien pact). But of course, shooting lasers from fingertips and these strange orbs have to be removed.

The concept and themes of this movie has been done much better before and since. I'm not surprised it hasn't been remade...it was not good when it was released and sadly hasn't improved with time. Except maybe now it's even funnier.

I don't think the movie was made to be taken seriously so the fact that 'now it's even funnier' seems a good thing.
