Great flick
Fast paced , solid acting . Cynthia Rhodes is a very talented actress, singer , and dancer . Finola Hughes was deliciously wicked. Travolta's best performance.

shareIt wasn't great, but surprisingly watchable 32 years after I first saw it. I remember back then I didn't like it nearly as much as "Saturday Night Fever," but when I re-watched it on Retro channel, HD, wide-screen and commercial-free, it was actually pretty entertaining. John Travolta was very good. I didn't care for the style of dancing or anything else about "Satan's Ally," though.

I just saw this and SNF for the first time. Granted there's nothing particularly praiseworthy about it, but it's also not horrible. It's one of those cases where it would probably be viewed more favorably if it wasn't a sequel to a well-liked movie.
shareI watched it today and enjoyed it more than Saturday night fever.
shareHow old are you? The reason am asking is am old lol I actually saw Saturday Night Fever in theaters in 1977, the problem with Staying Alive, even though it's fun to watch and has it's moments and a great soundtrack it lacks all the heart, guts, characters, vulgar language and dark tone of the streets that made up the iconic SNF. Like many have said as a stand alone film it would have been considered above average, but if you're a fan of the original and waited six years for the sequel to be released in 1983, SA was a huge disappointment. You got to see Tony Manero again, but except for the mother returning you didn't get to see any of the characters that made SNF so great. My point is every great movie franchise that has a sequel always brings back the majority of the characters from the previous films, SA didn't, and that's one of the main reasons it's viewed today so negatively, but if you like it better then SNF, to each his own.
shareI'm 30 I watched Saturday night fever plenty of times and it's a good flick. I think staying alive was just a great movie also. It develops travolta character better. He goes from ass to maybe having real feelings and genuine compassion. In snf he was a total dick and even know he dogged the girl and she killed herself his character didn't change much
sharei also enjoyed this more than saturday night fever, probably because i hate disco and far from over such a awesome track. love the early 80s.
I hated Jaws, it had too much shark, and dont get me started about King Kong, waaay too much gorilla
