Robert Blake, Fred Dryer

there are two characteres in this film, one an actor the other a football player, both fictional and both hanging out at the playboy mansion (flirting with Dorothy), but my theory is the actor is based on Robert Blake and the football player (fictional name "Billy Joe Batten" is really HUNTER's Fred Dryer...

both Blake and Dryer not only hung out at the mansion like many, but they both literally lived there, and even had mail sent there...

Eric Roberts talks to the actor character and says his tv show went off a few years prior, which would have been in 1977 or 1978, and that's when BARETTA went off the air, around that time...

Yeah, and also.. for split second in one of the mansion scenes you can see a Burt Reynolds look-alike playing pool. Burt, who most of us know, was also a regular there.

I was wondering who Fred Dryer was based on also. I was thinking the actor looked like Lee Majors, whose "Six Million Dollar Man" went off the air in 1978. But I think Robert Blake would be more likely to frequent the Playboy mansion!

It's true, Blake actually lived in the playboy mansion, didnt just visit there. So did Dryer, and James Caan, who is mentioned in this film.

"Is James Caan there?"

"Who is he?"

"You know... Sonny Coreleone in The Godfather"

"Never seen it"

reply

Well, Fred Dryer was himself married to playboy playmate Tracy Vaccaro. They met at the Playboy Mansion.
