he was still brilliant compared to Stratton. He was sort of a renaissance man with non-stop ambition for everything he tried. It probably destroyed him that success just fell into Dorthy's lap like that. You really have to be lucky in life. Paul had bad luck and timing, plus he was psycho. Dorthy was lucky. Life is cruel.
Everybody is entitled to their opinion. But I thought that Paul was an insecure, selfish, envious prick who didn't love anybody including himself. He picked up on Dorothy because she was a young woman who didn't know any better and was looking for a father figure. Even if Snider had gotten all the fame and success that he so greatly craved it would not have made him happy. He would have just been the same insecure, pimpish clown he was before he had success. He thought that by getting all the money and success he would finally 'belong'. He saw Dorothy as a means to getting that success. When he saw he didn't have what it took to hold onto her he flipped because he knew he wasn't worth a damn by himself. To me he was just a sad, pathetic, oily, psychotic fool.
