all the special F/X look better in this movie than anything they release today,
those gliders are awesome,
the lasers are radical,
the use of matte makes the film look much more realistic than something like "lost in space,"
all the aliens or whatever the heros encounter seem so much more inventive and "out there" than crap these days,
maybe that dragon kind of sucks but the water amazons make up for it,
molly ringwald is a bit irritating but ernie hudson and peter strauss are both great heros,
i love chalmers, the navigational android, too bad about her not being in it for very long,
kind of a short flick, but really enjoyable,
and the locations are truly beautiful and desolate,
also love the set design, this movie just looks so cool

Totally agree with you. I just saw the movie and was very impressed by the set design, art direction, costumes... A great and very inventive sci-fi movie.

Man that cracked me up.
Too bad I didn't see this when I was a kid, this movie would have awesome nostalgia rating.

What clichés? Thats a word the wannabe critics use when they want to whinge.
