Ed, the bartender, actor James Stacy arm and leg

I wondered about this actor, I couldn't figure out if they cleverly used prosthetics to fake his loss of arm and leg. So I looked up his IMDB profile. Here's what i found:

"In 1973, Stacy lost his left arm and left leg in a serious motorcycle accident that claimed the life of his girlfriend. The resultant medical bills wiped out Stacy's savings, but his ex-wives and his Hollywood friends rallied round and threw a benefit for him. Two years later, he made his professional comeback as a newspaper editor in the Western film Posse (1975) in a role created expressly for him by the film's director, Kirk Douglas."

So, it turns out his amputations are real. It was wonderful he was given this role. The book's character was minor, and didn't have any such injury. They rewrote the character just for him, it seems.

his character plays well though with the visual of having them look in the mirror so they can see their desired reality.
