Nope, I was a big fan of the first two Smokey and the Bandit movies and I wanted to give this movie a try, I thought it was a fun enjoyable movie to watch although it wasn't a well made movie but Jackie Gleason's performance was at his best as Buford T. Justice.
shareWhat's the smokey reference in bill & ted? just curious.
shareWhen Death is in Heaven playing charade's with the Stations, he suggests "Smokey & The Bandit 3! Smokey IS the bandit!".

Can't really agree on this one. Bandit 1 was clearly the best... 2nd place for Bandit 2 and for me Part 3 is on last place.
Bandit 2 had not much, I agree. Especially the first half was booooring (the chase in the desert and the trucks/cops fight was cool).
But the movie at least had Burt and a better looking T/A than the third part.
I'd rather watch part 3 than 2 because, like you said, 2 was boring and all talk with little action. Plus that crazy demoltion derby at the end was so over the top and stupid. At least 3 has tons of chases and more good stupid lines from Junior.
The 1980 Turbo T/A he had looked cool, but in reality was an overweight slug. All looks and no-go,ironically just like the film.
I liked part 3 but the thing that sorta made me upset was that supposedly, he brings trigger out of mothballs so to speak, but it was obviously not the same car, and that sorta didnt make any sense cause buford recognized the bandit by his car. I mean the original car was the essence of Smokey and The Bandit. if part 1 had been made with some other car it would have not been the same. that car represented an era in itself, bot to mention that the car in part 3 remind me of Knightrider lol.
shareit's just part of SATB tradition that whatever year TA is current with the year of the movie, that's what they use. I guess the real Bandit felt the need to keep up with the times and get a new one every so often. Besides, it's mentioned in SATB 2 that the Bandit traded his first TA for a six pack of beer.
I kinda liked the use of the then "new" style Trans Ams. They were easier to throw around and do stunts with than the older heavier ones.
i thought the 3rd one was hilarious
