good trilogies come in threes

I think it's interesting that the Smokey trilogy shared the same release pattern with another trilogy, the one with Han Solo and Chewbacca. To wit, in the summer of 1977, Star Wars and Smokey & The Bandit both came out. In the summer of 1980, Empire Strikes Back and Smokey & The Bandit II were released. In the summer of 1983, Return of the Jedi and Smokey & The Bandit Part 3 were released.

Which trilogy is better? I think Smokey 3 is better than Return of Jedi. I'd rather see nude women than furry Ewoks.

The characters from both movies are similar too. Bandit=Luke Skywalker,Buford T. Justice=Darth Vader, Frog=Princess Leia,Snowman=Han Solo,Fred=Chewbacca, The Enoses=C3P0&R2D2. Creepy isn't it

Good analysis. I never thought of the Enoses that way, but it makes sense. However, I think The Bandit equals Han Solo. Both of them are anti-heroes who operate outside of the law, doing the wrong thing for the right reason. In fact, not to sound pretentious, but this sort of character can be traced back to the Revolutionary War period. America is a country of rebels.

I guess it would make more sense if Bandit was Han Solo since Han and Leia were an item as were Bandit and Frog.

You are so very correct about that guy! It is really strange that the trilogy of Star Wars and Smokey And The Bandit all came out at the same time and year. I mean how many movies do you see doing that? I would have to say not too many at all you know.

Not to mention:

SB1 and SWE4 = Fun, crazy adventurous.
SB2 and SWE5 = Slower paced, more emotionol, great finale.
SB3 and SWE6 = Less efforted than the previous films and re-used ideas.
