Burt's cameo

made me wish he was in the whole movie. Burt is the bandit. He has the cockiness to pull it off.

Jackie Gleason was great in the movie. I just wish his character was
more racist like Archie Bunker and George Jefferson.

This movie was way more fun than the awful Smokey and the Bandit 2.

I know what you mean because I was hoping to see more of Burt Reynolds in the last movie and all they had him do was play a small cameo role in the movie. That is a part of the reason as to why I did not care for Smokey And The Bandit 3.

That is why at times I do not like sequels because if the main character does not want to come back to play that character then the movie is awful without the actor playing the main character you know.

Did you notice half of Jerry Reed's Dialouge was done by another voice that wasn't his this movie sucked big time

reply

Yes I did and that is why I never cared for the movie too much because it did not have the main star in it like Burt Reynolds. That is why if I bought just the first two Smokey And The Bandit Movies then I would be happy with that.

I find it slightly ironic that it was Jerry Reed who was originaly cast as Bandit for the first movie.
But once Burt showed an interest, Jerry was pushed aside and made room for Burt.

So in a strange kind of way Jerry WAS the original Bandit.

The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he is God.

Possibly Jerry Reed was written to originally play the Bandit in the first movie but when you have a big caliber star like Burt Reynolds who agrees to do a movie you are going to go with the better actor instead of someone who may not draw as many people to the movie theaters.

It wouldn't matter if you had a big movie star in a movie or not. That isn't what draws the crowd. You look at the top grossing movies and you will not see many of the big named movie stars in them. Star Wars out grossed Smokey and The Bandit in Theaters and Mark Hamill or Harrisson Ford were not as big as Burt Reynolds at the time. Titanic for instance, Leonarda DiCaprio isn't as big of a movie star as Tom Hanks, and Titanic is the top grossing movie. Look at the Harry Potter films, they grossed alot of money, but he's not as big of a movie star as Bruce Willis. People do go see movies sometimes when a big name is in it, but not always.
