So, obviously, after Cledus made out with Truck Race chicks in SATB 2, Waynette took the kids and the house and threw Cledus' ass out. At least she let him keep Fred.

Not to mention the fact that I imagine the Bandit would be pretty pissed off at his best friend stealing his handle and getting his ass kicked in a bar under his identity, and generally acting like a boob. Really, Cledus? REALLY?

Just a qualifier--Yes, I am debating the finer points of SATB 3. Pathetic? Maybe. But SATB was my favorite movie when I was a kid, and I'm just watching this one now. Guess I should have stuck with the instinct I had when I was 13 and this came out.

In the USA Cable network version, which plays a little longer, Snowman explains that he's "filling in for a friend."

Meta explanation is that Jerry Reed is filming reshoots for the Jackie Gleason scenes, thereby "filling in for a friend."

In film explanation is that, maybe, the Real Bandit knows what's up and is cool with it.
