No, not Bob Seger. The haunting Tangerine Dream theme that plays several times in the movie. Adds a whole different dimension to it. Without it, this might feel like a more lightweight teen exploitation comedy.
Halloween is another example. Wouldn't have been nearly as scary without its creepy theme song.
Truth. The movie is not very good but there is a lot in the way of music, production, and iconic scenes that elevate it to quasi-classic.
shareI watched it tonight for the first time in years and was actually taken aback at just how bad it is as a movie! It's really not aged well at all. But I still agree with what you said- the soundtrack, colors, some of the cinematography, styling/outfits, RBM, etc. make it a nice art piece.

Replace the Tangerine Dream music by cheesy saxophone (which was often used in sexy dramas or comedies from the 80's) and the movie is ruined.
