Anyone have trouble with the blu ray?

TWICE during the movie, the audio just...dropped out. Dead silence. Nothing. I solved the problem by backtracking to before the audio shut off and hitting play, and then it went smoothly. But I don’t want to have to backtrack in those two spots every time I watch the movie—especially since the second time is right at the end during Gordo Cooper’s launch. But what’s the problem? Is it the disc? The blu ray player? The HDMI cable? The TV? How do I diagnose the problem? I guess if it happens with another disc, that will pin it down slightly. But all I can think of to do is to watch the entire three-hour movie again and see if the same glitch occurs in the same spots. If so, I’ll just return the disc for an exchange. Since I haven’t had this problem with other discs, I hope it’s that simple—but it might be across the board in every print of this blu ray. If so, I’m just out of luck. I haven’t found any other complaints, so I’m hoping it’s just a defect on my disc.

It's been 9 days since you posted, so hopefully you've resolved your issue with the Blu-Ray. If not, one thing you can do is to check if your Blu-Ray Player needs a firmware update.

I don't own this movie on Blu-Ray, so I don't know if it's an encoding issue, a firmware issue, or a hardware issue you're having, but IMDB message boards probably aren't the best place to ask about BD problems. I'd recommend the forums over at www.blu-ray.com to see if anyone else has had problems with the disc. The forum goers over there are usually pretty on point with stuff like this.

I have the movie on blu-ray and did not experience any sound drop-out.
