Scenes stolen from this movie
#1 When Cho catches the filled coffee cup off the police captains desk. This scene was later used in the movie "Ronin" with Robert De Niro. De Niro deliberately pushes his filled coffee cup off the desk and the mercenary catches it without spilling a drop.
#2 When Cho does a handstand on the roof of the van and slams through the windshield with his feet as an attack. This stunt was used for "The Transporter", when Jason Statham does the exact same thing.
#3 This one may not be directly connected to just one movie, but the bamboo trees fight scene in the beginning was something that was not previously shown. This swordfight scene has been used in many martial arts movies (as well as video games), because the trees add an extra dimension to the fights, as well as unique moves. Did it have a direct link to Revenge of the Ninja? I don't know for sure, but i've never seen it used before that.
There may have been others, but I just wanted to show some of the people who thought this movie was stupid, that it was pretty groundbreaking for it's time. When I think back to 1983, the only japanese martial arts movies that come to mind, are those from "Kung Fu Theater", which went way beyond any type of marketable audience for the USA. Revenge of the Ninja was one of the first to bridge that gap.
