I had the uncut version for 25 years and had no idea

I recorded the film off of one of the pay cable channels in 1984/85 (showtime, HBO and cinemax). Therefore I never bothered to rent the film on vhs. I just finished converting this particular betamax tape over to dvd (for posterity) and was kind of amazed to find out it was the full uncut version of the film

I had no idea it was even cut down on vhs until the MGM dvd came out and I saw people were talking about it having extra footage that was cut from the vhs tape
(I do own the mgm disc but never got around to watching it).

In fact this conversion was the first time I saw the movie in close to 20 years. That is when I noticed all of the scenes mentioned being cut were present in this version

The main reason for this is that the cable channels back then used the real theatrical prints, not the vhs master prints. So what played in US theaters back then was indeed the full version of the film and this is what aired on pay cable. No idea why then it was hacked down for the vhs release.

At any rate I figured if anyone would appreciate this post it might be here

so put it on a website for free download or something.

no reason to. You can purchase the region 1 MGM dvd for like 6$ on ebay since that uses the uncut print
