Cho and Braden at the beginning was just laughable

At the beginning of the film, Braden was basically telling Cho that he needed to leave Japan to escape the ninjas, and Cho was pretty much like, "Nah, Japan is my homeland. I will never leave." And then seconds later, a bunch of ninjas pop out of nowhere and kill his wife and son. And after all the ninjas are killed, Braden is basically like, "See Cho?! This is what I was talking about!" And then Cho finally comes to the conclusion that Braden was right. So unbelievably coincidental and Cho doesn't even notice anything strange. Cho's mom was even like, "I do not trust this man, my son". And Braden is standing there...just looking as sketchy as possible. I mean, come on...

Though, I do enjoy watching Revenge of the Ninja. It is really corny, but in a good way.

It's never explained why ninjas seem to make a habit of attacking Cho and his family. The IMBb-forum OP seemed to think that Braden orchestrated the attack shown at the beginning of the movie, but Cho said that his father and grandfather were both killed "fighting on this land," which suggests it's been an ongoing thing for generations, far predating any possible involvement from Braden. I wish they would have given some backstory about this apparent ninja clan version of the Hatfields and McCoys.

The funny thing is, Cho stayed in Japan for another 6 years after the incident shown at the beginning of the movie. I wonder how many more rival ninjas he shellacked during that time. And what are the legal ramifications of dusting a few dozen trespassers with a sword every now and then in 1980s Japan? And also, what was Braden doing for 6 years? Just putting his drug-smuggling-in-dolls plan on the back burner? You'd think he would have come up with alternate arrangements during that time, no longer needing Cho.

And why did Cho have no idea that Braden was a ninja until Cathy told him over the phone? It didn't seem odd to him that Braden, while being unarmed, was able to block a sword attack from a ninja and then kill the ninja with his own sword? And once Cathy told him that Braden was a ninja, how did he instantly know that he had trained specifically in Kōga-ryū style ninjitsu?
