I have both the R rated & TV versions of Private School.
The only scene worth having that is on the TV version is when Betsy Russell takes off her shorts. It has a different classroom scene at the beginning, Mooning scene at the end of the movie with their panties all the way on.
Much more of Phoebe Cates & Matthew Modine at the hotel.
So the only thing that should be on the R rated DVD is Betsy Russell taking off her shorts.
Wasn't there a part in the TV version where Betsy pulled the tie out of her ponytail and let her hair down? It was around the same point where Modine was in drag, in her room and she was using her feminine wiles to taunt him. It is a small but very sexy moment. I swear I have looked on the old VHS copy and not seen it. (Am I wrong?) The only place I have seen it is on the broadcast TV version.

The TV version of this I use to watch it when it was shown a lot on USA Network and USA UP ALL NIGHT back in the day! This was one of my favorite movies to watch from USA UP ALL NIGHT!

How did you get the TV version? I've been looking around online, but can't find it for sale. I'd be willing to purchase a copy from you if the quality is good. My goal is to splice the tv and release versions of the seduction scene together and put it on youtube.
I recorded the TV version when it aired on the USA Network, USA UP All Night.
I would contact the USA Network, but they do not show movies like this anymore on their network.
There is a scene I remember from a movie, and I think it belongs to this one. Can anyone let me know? The scene is this:
There's a scene with two young people (man and woman) standing behind a row of bushes. The girl wears a white shirt, the man wears a pair of swim trunks. They share some brief flirty dialogue before the camera cuts to the girl's feet and she drops the shirt (implying she was naked beneath it). Then we cut to a shot of the young man's feet as he drops the swim trunks. Two old ladies come along (not seeing that the young people are naked). One of them says, "Hi ther, waht are you two doing?" Nervously the young girl answers, "Uh...studying?"
That scene is 100% Not in the film Private School.

I think the earlier post someone made about splicing the DVD and TV only footage is a great idea, and I just want to be in the loop if this manifests somewhere on the net.

"If" you "ever" post it on YouTube? It's risky I know because of the legal stuff, but I for one wish you would post it. Saying "if" makes you almost as much of a tease as Jordan Leigh-Jenson! :)
shareI'm sorry to be a tease like Jordan Leigh Jenson, Very true about the legal risk of posting it on YouTube. It would be good if they would release a special edition with bonus footage, or a Blu-ray version with additional footage.
shareWell, the better thing to do probably would have been to say "I can't post it for legal reasons", rather than bring up that nasty word "if". I'm just sayin'.
shareI will just say that anything is possible, In the future (sorry) "if" I decide to post it or give it to someone else to post, I'll let everyone know. Also the DVD release is copy protected, so it would be hard to splice both versions (R rated and TV Version) together. (I do Not have a program to break copy protection)
Another reason that I can't post it now on YOUTUBE. I do have a dubbed version with all of the alternate TV Version scenes on a VHS Tape in hand, but this was dubbed from another VHS tape (first generation) of the entire USA Network TV Version of Private School. This is much better quality, I would need to find the tape, I'm not sure exactly where it is. The Second Generation VHS copy of all the alternate TV version scenes is good quality, but not excellent.
