Opening scene, relation to rest of movie

What is the connection between the opening scene in Cuba, and the rest of the movie? Couldn't discover it myself.

You're right, no connection to the plot, but it does look cool.

Tomorrow Never Dies is close - it's "related" because we see Gupta picking up the GPS unit, but that's coincidental. He and Bond don't interact, Bond's mission has nothing to do with the GPS unit, and Gupta's acquisition has nothing to do with Bond.

The opening scene is supposed to resemble Cuba. The leader with the Castro like beard. The gas stations had a Che Guerva like logo on the pump along with the vintage cars. The theme of the movie is the cold war. Cuba ties into the cold war along with the Russians

The opening scenes are conceived separately from the rest of the film, they don't always have a connection.

It wasn’t Cuba or are you trying to insinuate that Kamals palace and the train chase both took place in Cuba? Pretty sure they were set in India and Germany. As usual you are wrong.

I'm an expert on James Bond movies. The opening sequence took place in Cuba. The main part of the film took place in India. Like I been telling you. I know more than most everyone else when it comes to James Bond

No. What I'm saying is the movie opens in Cuba, then over to the UK, then to India, then to East and West Germany and it ends back in India. I know more than anyone else when it coms to James Bond

I'm a whiz in Geography. The nation of Val Verde does not exist

In some older Bond movies the pre title sequence doesn't have to do with the rest of the movie.

That's the way it is in most of the Moore Bonds. It's an unrelated action scene, just for the hell of it.
