DVD re-release?
Would anyone happen to know if Universal or Anchor Bay will re-release this film on DVD, the old release is out-of-print and I don't want to shell out a fortune for an old copy.

shareI got a great copy for 14.95 on www.fleshwoundvideo.com
copy of a fullscreen, but it does have a trailer and the transfer is perfect....and great packaging...has box & artwork...I'd suggest checking it out...
Blue Underground might release it since they are re-releasing a bunch of old Anchor Bay dvd's. Hopefully it'll be in widescreen though.
shareNot possible since the film was shot full-screen to be a TV Movie of the Week. They would have to zoom in and cut off the top and bottom of the picture to fake it...and who wants LESS? :)
shareAspect ratio is listed as 1:85:1. It's been on UniHD lateley in widescreen HD and its looks great. Not as good as a newer movie, but definatly much better than the current DVD. Since they obviously spent some time cleaning it up and transferring it to HD, hopefully there will be a new DVD release comming.
shareI purchased a beautiful widescreen DVD-R copy of this film for a mere ten bucks from a dealer at a horror convention in New Jersey; the print looks great and the movie is shown in its original 1:85:1 theatrical ratio to boot!

This movie probably won't surface again unless Anchor Bay decides it's worthwhile. In regards to the film itself, it was a made-for-TV movie originally, but was deemed too graphic and given a theatrical release. While IMDB lists it as 1.85:1, that's only the theatrical aspect; it was shot at 1.33:1. After comparing the DVD version to the HDTV version, I noticed the HDTV broadcast is cropped; there's no additional picture on the left/right, but some is lost at the top and bottom. While it is a better quality print than the AB DVD, the aspect is actually wrong. If anyone would like a copy of the AB DVD, feel free to PM me.
