Never Say McClory Again

In 2003 a guy screen named Blofeld's Cat- started circulating an edit of the NSNA called Never Say McClory Again. He had a boxed set in which he included the 'Warhead' Script and lots of other goodies. Then, Sony got a hold of MGM and the guy's website disappeared. The movie disappeared off the Fanedit.org page (downloads of the film did not the history of the edit). I have been looking for that copy everywhere.

I'd actually like to see the edited version. I wonder if with any of the newer content that has been floating around- like the work print, deleted scenes and Phyllis Hymen's original Opening theme - if it is possible to update the work that BC did. i firmly believe that much of the problem with NSNA was with its choppy editing

For the most part it was just score replacement. Sometimes it was very good and others it took me out of the movie (using music that was either too modern or too recognizable from a certain film). I have it burnt to a DVDr but unfortunately the DVDr will no longer read. I actually tried to watch it a few months ago and was disappointed to not be able to see an albeit slightly better version of a very flawed film.

Well, it's interesting to watch it, but at first the alternative cues are a distraction, and of course the music isn't consistent, so it doesn't build a mood for the film. There are some probs; he uses Bassey's History Repeating Itself for the main title, but that's a song for background music during a scene, it's too trivial for the main title. Marvin Hamlisch's Disco 77 from the ski chase is used for the bike chase, but actually there's a youtube clip somewhere with the boat chase from TWINE used to better effect for that. One thing, Barbara Carrera's performance seems less hammy in this version, but Maria Braundeur's seems more hammy, so it's swings and roundabouts.

Really, the action just never kicks in during this film, there's no getting away from that.

This was a novel fan-edit idea that could've benefited from the studios (Warner Brothers) putting out an extras filled Blu-Ray with deleted scenes and the original opening credits theme by Phyllis Hymen!

cos as of late though Blofeld's Cat version has had some imatators who have been inspired by his cut who are making their own improvements to his version by modifying the opening pre-title sequence yet still with more interesting edits made to NSNA opening.
