DVD question...

I keep reading the non-special edition is missing four minutes that really throws the film off if you never saw it before. Has this been confirmed and has another release been announced for the near future if it is?

I'm just getting the VHS for now. There's no guarantee I'll get a used DVD from the later print run and if I enjoy it enough to want a DVD I'll wait for a rerelease. Thanks for the help though.

A used special edition showed up for 9.99. So now that's mine.

The original DVD release from the year 2000 was indeed missing several minutes, basically the entire casino/arcade sequence. It was a big deal back in the day and the DVD was re-released correctly. This would be the DVD with the orangish/brownish cover, and the replacement copies had the exact same cover art (maybe a slightly different UPC? I'm not sure though), so it would be difficult to tell if the one you're buying is botched or not without popping it in and checking it. However, I'm sure most of the botched versions are out of circulation by now, at least if buying from a known retailer.

The later Collector's Edition version with the silver cover (the same cover art as the blu ray) is fully intact, so if you want to be absolutely, 100% sure to get the correct version of the movie, just get that one.
