Now Officially Canon

Eon purchased the rights for Blofeld this past month and with that Never Say Never Again is now owned by Eon.

Thoughts?

I read about that. I thought Eon already owned them. How did he appear in the games?

I'm not sure how canon it is, since it's a loose remake of THUNDERBALL. But I always thought of this as "Bond: The Later Years".

I hope to see Blofeld and SPECTRE again. Since rights issues are no longer a problem, there is no real reason not to include them.

Somehow for Blofeld they must have lost the rights somewhere down the road, and in any case they have the rights back again.

McClory got the rights following his lawsuit against Fleming. This was decades ago.

And now Eon has the rights back!

They had overused Blofeld by the 70's anyway. Having Moores 007 kill Blofeld at the start of FYEO was amusing though.

EON (or more specifically MGM) owns NSNA and also the 1967 Casino Royale movie as well, now. They have the rights to distribute them on DVD. Just got the Blu ray of both recently, to put next to my Bond 50 box set on blu ray

reply

Not canon, just because it really sucks.

Update! The working title of 'Bond 24' has been updated to 'Bond 25' to include Never Say Never Again in the film canon.
