Criminally underrated

It became really cool to bash this movie because the Broccolis weren't involved, but in point of fact it's one of the best Bonds ever made.

reply

I agree, it's one of the best...along with the best baddie and Bond girl of all, Barbara Carrera!

reply

Underrated, even for a remake. Not as good as some of Connery's previous Bonds, but it's close.

If so, then I'm a member! I love this film. Barbara Carrera is just brilliant! I also love Lani Hall singing the title song. And Connery, even in this, is still the sexiest Bond ever.

reply

Verily I say unto thee...its crap and everyone knows it is although its better than QUANTUM OF SOLACE but what movie isn't?

reply

Well then, YOU shouldn't watch it! Those of us who love it, will! Doesn't THAT seem like a good solution?

reply

it's good but needs a better title. like: 'never say yahtzee again.'

I completely agree.

Sean Connery was very instrumental in writing the screenplay and story (even though it was just a "remake" of Thunderball")

He has said that his favorite movie was "From Russia With Love" and that the series went downhill from there as the movies became more focused on the gadgets and less on character development and good film-making principles.

I would tend to agree with him.

With this film, he wanted to return to the ethos of the first few Bond films... and I really think he did it.

I found myself entertained by this film and enjoyed his solid acting.

Great movie.

reply

It has two of the best villains in all the Bond films, certainly!

reply

I just watched this over the weekend and found the film really dated...more so than any other Bond film. I just thought the main villain was weak and the whole last 30 minutes was really weak and just not very exciting. Even Kershner said in the making he wished he could have started the movie again...and I don't blame him. Still Connery was still awesome and the Fatima character was great.

There's something endlessly fascinating to me about Klaus Maria Brandauer's performance. It's so buoyant, a little quirky, playful, even subtle at times. I don't know, I just really like watching it!

reply

While I might personally not say this is the best bond movie ever made. I highly agree that this movie deserves better attention than what it got. Its not a bad movie, and its not a bad bond movie by any means.
Some of the newer ones is shamefully bad in comparison to this one for example.
