Take a look at this hilarious spoof of "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" on YouTube. Since it came out 3 years earlier than "Mom," there's no question where the scene with "Jaws the Vacuum Cleaner" was inspired. I thought of it the first time I saw "Mom" in 1983.
