I know it's not as good as Life of Brian, nor Holy Grail, but blasphemy has never been funnier and more clever...

Personally, i don't think this should be compared to Life of Brian or Holy Grail. Both of those movies are great in their own ways, as is this movie. Actually just finished watching it like 20 minutes ago or so having found it on tape earlier today. And yes i STILL laughed my ass off even after having watched it before. Personally, I think the jokes in this movie should be universally appealing, but it may be a bit better with some background info.
Then again, I'm just a guy who likes seeing horribly obese people explode, funny looking african natives, Jokes about sex, and christmas in heaven.
Speaking of which, the songs are easily the best (and funniest) parts of the movie.

That may be confusing, but in my opinion it is the least funny, but the best motion picture that Pythons did. I laugh a lot while watching this, but I don't have a lot of pure fun. It is mostly a very bitter laugh. This film is a very mature comedy, some viewers may find it a bit "heavy".
It had some of the most memorable monty python scenes for me, but the real value of the movie is in it's dept. If you watch this and analyse just a bit, you can appreciate the philosophical side of the movie, it's criticism and all. This movie was juste brilliant and it shows how intelligent the pythons are.

The only Monty Python I've seen for the moment, and I found it to be a rare pearl of smart humour and blasphemy. I rarely give a 10/10. The Sperm Chant is one of the best classic cinematographic moments ever.
