Amazing Movie. But Also a Missed Chance.

I love this movie. A solid 8.5 and I am definitely glad I bought it on blu-ray. But I felt there was a chance to make a 4th wall breaking, literally revolving around the meaning of life. The throw up scene, live liver transplant, war scenes, sex ed class and "every sperm us sacred" while all hilarious, feel really out of place with that scene when the song takes place while walking out in space. But I guess it wouldn't have been Monty Python without it feeling out of place. Is there any movies kind of similar to what I expected from this?

I mean the Eric Idle singing in space song. Felt like it should be in a different movie.

I think that is part of the point though. There is so much silly filler, all distractions from the meaning of life, which though being clearly stated, is ignored.

Could you please explain what you mean by the following?

Just watched this for the first time in probably 20 years. This is a seriously whacked-out movie! I'm a Python fan and loved the zaniness of the segues between skits, the fourth wall stuff, and the general drubbing they gave society (I especially love their satire of Catholicism).

It's not my favorite though. Very uneven. Some hilarious skits and some not so much. The liver scene was one of the most disgusting things I've ever seen (even though I can see why it wouldn't have been as funny if they toned it down). They really went for it on this one.

It feels like a movie that would never, ever stand a chance of getting made today. Too smart, too wacky, too f'd up. It makes me feel good that movies like this could once get produced.

"Oh Lord, you are so big."
