Michael Caine in ZULU segment

Did anyone else recognize Michael Caine in the ZULU segment? He was in the wagon with the spear trough his gut. "All this killing, bloodshead. Bloody good fun, sir, isn't it?". Said same/similar line in ZULU (1964). If you do send add to credit and or trivia.

Yeap!!! You are 100% right, that's him.

reply

Frankly, didn't see the likeness. Caine's eyes are droopier.

Hmmm?

reply

Too bad. It's actually him.

I remember an old interview where they asked the Pythons if that was Michael Caine, and they said something like "We should say yes!" and "We invited a few famous stars to be in the movie, but they all refused." Not exactly a definitive "no," but... I've never remembered to look for Caine in that scene, I'm going to pop it in tonight and see what I think.

OK, I can see why people would think it's him, there is a resemblance. But as far as I'm concerned it's definitely not him. I think it's just one of the minor background actors who appears in various scenes. Pretty sure it's the same guy running the projector during Graham Chapman's "may god strike me dead" commando scene, and one of the soldiers in the "marching up & down the square" scene. I want to say he was also in Life of Brian as a Roman soldier but I'd have to watch that again too...

EDIT: I managed to find that old interview:
