The Mercedes (Spoiler)

I watched this movie last night and everytime I saw the Mercedes, it never has a license plate. Just something I noticed.

NO WHEN WILL BE WATCHING US, WHY DON'T WE DO IT IN THE ROAD?

reply

I've seen this movie dozens of times and never noticed that detail.

There, daddy, do I get a gold star?

I'm sure there are a lot more errors, I just happen to catch the license plate error while it was on T.V. when I was on this site.

reply

It never has a plate cuz it was bought brand new by max dugan........

reply

Okay, then when Max is driving away in it, don't you think he'd want a license plate on it seeing how he wasn't in good with the authorities?

5thbeatle: Good point, but given Max's extreme caution in all things, I feel confident he'll get away with it. Think about it, all he has to do is get to the Mexican border (a couple of hours from Venice, CA), and that's it. Traffic cops aren't all that common between Mexico and Brazil.

As Cooke_Fann said, the car was purchased brand new from the dealership, so the plates hadn't yet been received.

reply

When you buy a brand new car, it comes with no plates. The dealer will give you all the documentation, that you can show to the cops if they stop you. So, having no license plates is no problem at all. Certainly not for Max Dougan.

reply

Max actually says to her when she sees the car that she should get the plates in about a week. Something to that effect.

reply

Finally, a grown up here in the boards! Yes, Max told Nora "here's your new car, it's in your name, and the plates will arrive in a week or so".

The lack of license plates in a brand new car is not a movie "error."

reply

but the papers put the car in HER name, not his.

There is paperwork on the windshield from the dealer that stays until the plates arrive. California still does this but they are now designed to hide personal information.

I like how people think they are so clever and special for pointing out "errors" in movies that aren't actually errors.

Feel good and stupid now OP?

reply
