If you love the scenery watch The Illusionist

If one of the things you love about Local Hero is it's location and the beautiful beach/ seaside scenes, then go and watch The Illusionist (just out in the UK). Much of it is set in Scotland - mostly Edinburgh, but a good portion in the lochs and isles on the west coast.

The Illusionist is a cartoon, but what a beautiful cartoon. It's like watching a moving water colour. It captures the light, the changing colours and the rains of Scotland brilliantly. It has a gentle and somewhat melancholy storyline. Superb.

I second that. The Illusionist is written by the late great Jacques Tati, who Bill Forystyh has acknowledged as an influence for Local Hero.
