The video quality is surprisingly really good and the sound was OK, coulda used subtitles in some scenes though.
Its been 25+ years since last I watched this film and it made an impression on me then even though I only watched it once back in the early eighties. I, like others, have been awaiting a dvd release and was wondering if it would still hold up for me after all of these years. I am very happy to report it did.
You still get a sense that some story development was edited out in deference to meeting a shorter running time, 95 minutes, but despite that its still such a darn good film and the effects work for 1982 is outstanding.
Michael Mann is at his best here, some of the visuals are spectacular, and any deficiencies in the narrative are due only to studio interference. This makes me want to see a directors cut dvd even more.
