One of the most underrated vampire movies ever.

People don't know that this is also a vampire flick but not a conventional one, The Golem creature is a vampiric creature that sucks energy instead of blood and was a possible cause for vampire lore.

Did you read the book...it may have been lost a bit in the film, but Molasar does not relate in any way to a "Golem Creature" and was in no way a cause for vamipire lore....he chose to follow that particular line and vampire nonsense becasue that was what the Professor solidly grasped onto and he needed the old mans service. It is an awesome book and shallow film about an ultimate battle between ancient beings- far beyond the human concepts of good and evil, beyond the mythology of vampires.

Molasar/Rasalom (aka other similar anagram names) was not a vampire, but I can see where you would think so because the script did not accurately explain the events/plot of the novel. Rasalom is an inter-dimensional being of enormous evil who appears throughout F. Paul Wilson's "Repairman Jack" series. The second novel after The Keep, called "The Tomb", is in production, and will apparently star Ryan Reynolds as the title character.

However, I do agree that it is an underrated movie. If you're looking for an underrated vampire flick, try "Captain Kronos: Vampire Hunter." It's phenomenal.

Captain Kronos is great and another one that portrays an energy or Psychic vampire that drains energy/youth/souls instead of blood similar to the vampires in The Keep, Lifeforce, Sleepwalkers, The Dark Crystal etc.

I agree! Captain Kronos is great too(And it has Caroline Munro as well!)

I like Captain Kronos as well. Another underrated vampire movie that I enjoy is Near Dark.

The Keep, to me, is a haunting, atmospheric, flawed film. The editing seems forced and hurried, lending credence to the theory that the studios pressured Mann to cut the film down to what they considered a reasonable run-time.

Even with it's flaws, this is still one of my favorites.

Love The Keep, Capt. Kronos _and_ Near Dark. In our house the Mrs. loves The Lost Boys. I always counter that Near Dark was the better flick. Lance 'let's just say I fought for the south side' Henriksen, Bill 'finger lickin' good' Paxton - quality!

Cracking movies all.
