Unfortunately the script seemed to be a bit of an afterthought, that said...

This is one hell of a movie. Pure poetry. I've never seen anything quite like it and I'm grateful it's now streaming on Netflix so a new generation of adventurous film fans can discover it.

The movie follows the novel with some strange exceptions and gaps in the storyline. Confusing in some ways without reading it.

maybe the novel can explain why Scott Glenn hit it n' quit it with Alberta Watson

Amen to that, so glad I watched it. Didn't think too much about it when I selected it, especially considering most Netflix horror films are very "meh", but it soon captivated me, as Manhunter did. Great music too.
